Oxford Education
hello,
well it's been a week now at the oxford YWAM and the course is going well... we've studies the book of philemon all week (even though it's only 25 verses long!) but we've just basically been getting the tools together on how to interpret the rest of the bible. we learnt about the bible generally... how it was formed an transfered down the generations... and looked at all the types of genre's within it and lots of other random stuff... which i cant really remember (doing well then!).
went to 5 churches on friday as part of this oxford churches thing... was kinda fun just to see all the quirky things they have about them. then in the evening we had a base meeting using a ceremony from the 4th century where you read out some of the final events jesus's life from the bible and extinguish 4 candles until the room is in complete darkness. i liked it.
me and a few others went up to camp on a big hill after the meeting (had a fire and everything) then mountain biked on the hills around oxford the next day... was all good until we got to a section of very narrow path with more roots, rocks, trees, fallen trees, metal spikes (sticking out of the ground) and big drops than ridable path. was certainly an interesting challenge. but we ended up down at a waterfall (one bike down due to a puncture) after a while the other two rode back up the hill... while i pushed the broken bike half way back up (virtually what they did anyway... infact i only got there about 3 mins after them!) then back to the car (on the top of the hill...) and cycled after the car all the way back down the hill on the road... much funner.
anyway thats about it i think, i'm tried and my legs hurt.
happy easter, Simon
P.S.
+ a member of the russian K.G.B. once did a ywam course (he was spying on them in eastern europe-when it was still cummunist)
+ did you hear about the native american who decided to drink 10 liters of tea? - well they found him later drowned in his own teepee. (bad joke)
